Job Description

We require a caretaker for a start as soon as possible, who is enthusiastic, flexible and able to work well within a team.

The duties of the role will include elements of setting up rooms, cleaning, open and lock-up, lettings supervision and porterage. The role has a base within our designated Facilities Hub, and will work within a wider team of Caretakers, Cleaners, and Premises Maintenance staff overseen by our Facilities Manager.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a role with key responsibility and with similar related premises/security tasks; however, training will be given.

The position is a permanent position, ideally working 5 days a week (including Saturdays); however we would consider a 4 day week pattern.

Hours per week:

Total hours per week are full time 37 (10.30 - 19.00 4 days a week which must include a Thursday and Friday. Plus, Saturdays 07.00 - 15.00 to supervise our lettings. With a daily 60 minute unpaid break.

We would welcome applications from candidates wishing to work across 4 days, 30 hours per week (which must include Thurs-Sat). Exact working hours may be negotiable with the successful candidate.

Working weeks per year: Full time

Location: The post is based on site within the school.

Start date: Required for October 2024.

Holiday entitlement: The annual holiday entitlement for this post starts at 25 days plus bank holidays (April to March) and increases to 28 after 5 years' service. Previous local government service under the Modification Order will apply to annual leave entitlement. Annual leave is taken by arrangement with management, often with during school closure periods. Time off during term time can be taken with permission of the school as set out in the school's leave of absence policy.

Pay: The post is paid on Essex Schools' Local Government Pay Scale 4 Point 7 (£24,294 full time per annum), within the range of Points 7-8 (£24,294 - £24,702).
