We have a fantastic opportunity for a Head of Finance - FP&A to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving both in-year and long-term profitable growth for HBI Group. This role will be responsible for shaping the FP&A Centre of Excellence longer term, leading end-to-end financial planning—including in-year and 3-year strategic planning—and delivering key financial insights to senior leadership.

As a strategic finance leader, you will work cross-functionally with Divisional Finance Directors & Leads, identifying P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow opportunities while ensuring a sustainable and growth-focused P&L. With regular exposure to the senior team, you will drive best-in-class business partnering, influence senior stakeholders, and lead financial transformation initiatives to support our growth ambitions.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting across the group, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and insightful decision support. Partner with Cost Excellence and Financial Control teams for cash flow forecasting and cost impact analysis.
  • Strategic Financial Planning: Lead the 3-year financial planning process, collaborating with the Director of Strategy and senior leadership to develop key outputs for the Board and investors.
  • CFO Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO, providing consolidated financial insights and strategic guidance on group financial matters.
  • Capital Investment: At a future point following transformation initiatives, manage capex planning and reporting, ensuring smooth asset handover. Drive cost excellence, financial reporting improvements
  • FP&A system owner: working in partnership with our FP&A Transformation Lead, provide thought leadership into the development of OneStream and own the system ongoing, being at the forefront of latest technology. Be a key player in our Finance Transformation programme driving our broader Centre of Excellence approach
  • Finance Transformation & Process Improvement: Working in partnership with the FP&A Transformation Lead identify and implement efficiencies in finance processes, collaborating with programme leads to execute transformation initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement aligned with EPIC values and DE&I principles.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build strong relationships across the business, ensuring clear financial communication and alignment with P&L owners and Finance Business Partners.

Location:

This role is based in Nuneaton, and may be occasionally required to travel to our London Hub or to any other location of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the office.

The Person:

Key Requirements:

  • Financial leadership: proven experience of leading organisations through financial planning and reporting cycles, at least 10 years
  • Finance and Accounting Principles: In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting principles, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and financial analysis.
  • Retail Industry Expertise: Understanding of the retail industry, including key market trends, competitive landscape, and operational challenges. Knowledge of retail-specific financial metrics and performance indicators.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with financial software and systems, as well as advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial modelling and analysis and ideally Financial Planning systems
  • System implementation: played a key role in implementing a finance system, preferably FP&A
  • Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Awareness of legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the retail industry, including tax regulations, financial reporting standards, control, compliance and corporate governance principles.
  • Critical friend: Extensive experience leading and challenging senior stakeholders, including executive management, board members, and department heads, to drive consensus and implement financial and business plans
  • FP&A: Track record of creating and executing financial planning and reporting cycles in a multisite international business
  • Strategic Business Partnering: Proven ability to act as a strategic business partner to senior executives, by providing insightful financial analysis, challenging assumptions, and offering strategic recommendations to drive business performance and growth.
  • Change Leadership: Proven track record of leading and driving change initiatives within the finance function. Ability to navigate ambiguity, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and champion transformational change to achieve strategic objectives
  • Team Player: Strong collaborator with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and partnership. Willingness to challenge the status quo, engage in healthy debate, and drive consensus towards common objectives
  • Financial Acumen and Business Insight: Understanding of financial principles and business operations within the retail industry. Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights, providing valuable guidance to support strategic decision-making and drive sustainable business growth.
