An opportunity has arisen in the team for the post of finance business partner. The role will lead a team of Finance Analysts and Management Accountants provide strategic financial support to the department of Adults & Communities, Chief Executive's and Public Health.

About the Role

The key elements of the role are:

  • To take a strategic lead in developing and improving the provision of financial advice, analysis and information to service departments to support effective strategic decision making and delivering the medium term financial strategy.
  • As a member of the Departmental Management Team (DMT) provide support, challenge and influence on financial matters and service decisions.
  • As a member of the Finance Management team contribute to the continued improvement of the finance function.
  • To support and advise external partnerships/bodies to ensure consistent delivery of joint objectives.

This post is politically restricted therefore the post holder is disqualified from undertaking certain political activities under the Local Government Officers (Political Restrictions) Regulations 1990.

About You

To apply for this role you must be:

  • A qualified CCAB or equivalent accountant

and be:

  • Experienced in working with Senior Managers to advise, influence and deliver sound financial management
  • A person with strong communication skills including technical financial information to non-financial managers
  • A person with strong analytical and technical skills which you can use to find solutions to challenging issues
  • Experienced in working with, and understanding the political context, influencing decision making
  • Good at developing effective relationships with managers and staff at all levels, both within the organisation and with partners
  • Able to lead, develop and motivate team members and drive performance improvement alongside staff welfare

You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
