SALARY: £68,202 - £75,780
LOCATION(S): Manchester, Halifax and Leeds
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: At least two days per week (or 40% of your time) at one of our offices listed above.
About this opportunity
The Cloud team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for our Bank that will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations. We're looking for Engineers to join our Hybrid Engineering team within the Cloud Hybrid engineering Lab where you will have a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious team with the purpose of driving our tech modernisation agenda and enable us to become the biggest Fintech in the UK.
We're seeking a highly experienced, motivated and innovative hands-on Engineers to play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the technical direction of our Hybrid platform.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in infrastructure engineering and a passion for technology. Commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions is a must. You will have worked hands-on and broadly with VMware technologies and bring your expertise to one of our specialist teams; Networking, Storage, Databases (Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, Mongo DB), and other infrastructure technologies.

Day to day, you'll:
You'll lead the architectural design of infrastructure platform technologies and products across our ecosystem.
You'll be hands-on, working on building and maintaining our hybrid products and services in your specialist area
You'll lead technical conversations with stakeholders of varying levels of technical background, including Senior Management and other Subject Matter Experts
Be a great collaborator across internal, external, and 3rd party teams
Drive best-in-class approaches to automation and security
Have the ability to provide education and mentorship covering infrastructure engineering topics to support different teams on those topics, and drive upskilling
Are an SME in a particular aspect of infrastructure engineering, bringing your skills to our specialist teams whilst working to expand your knowledge across the hybrid cloud platform
What you'll need
Proven experience as an infrastructure Engineer working in a hybrid cloud environment specialising in one or more of the following technologies:
VMware (including NSX and VMware ARIA suite)
Storage & Backup (SAN, NAS, vSAN)
Databases (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
Operating Systems (Windows & Linux)
Networking (DHCP / WINS / DNS)
Middleware (MQ, WAS)
Automation Tooling (Chef / Terraform)
You will be able to demonstrate a familiarity and working experience of:
Supporting & managing enterprise infrastructure systems
Agile ways of working
Cloud platforms such as Azure and Google Cloud
Designing or contributing to solutions for a Hybrid Cloud Environment
Backup / Restore and Disaster recovery processes
Defect Management
Performance Optimisation
Technical fault-finding Level 3 & 4
Security best practises and compliance standards
Mentoring Colleagues and supporting technical development of other
Service design and associated methodologies
Problem solving and communication skills
Any experience of these would be really useful
VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Microsoft Certified: Azure VMware Solution (AVS) Specialist
