Job Title: Engineering Lead

Salary: £90,440 - £106,400

Location: Chester

Hours:  Full time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week currently, or 40% of our time, at our Chester office.

Working within the Financial Wellbeing Platform you will play a pivotal role in the next stage of our transformation journey. The Platform's purpose is to create a leading experience to help our customers before, during and after financial difficulty. We aim to achieve this purpose through

  • Improving colleague experience by simplifying processes and modernising systems,

  • Creating tools to allow customers to better manage their day-to-day finances, and

  • Reduce costs through an increased focus on Automation, DevOps and Cloud technologies.

Our aim is to create a forward-thinking engineering culture that supports the Customers in FinancialAssistance business in delivering high quality, efficient and positive Lab outcomes for our customers. The role of the Lab Engineer is vital in ensuring that we deliver on our purpose. Leading by example, your primary focus will be on delivering change across multiple feature teams. Your responsibility will include the growth and development of our Engineers as well as setting the technical strategic direction for the Lab.

What you'll need

This role is a leadership role that blends both deep domain and technical expertise with a passion for coaching and developing people.

  • Experience of the full web application stack, Back-end API integration, and Data Engineering is essential -core Java development skills would be ideal

  • Have a creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving

  • Able to describe complex situations to a multifaceted business and technology audience.

  • Experience using GCP Data products

  • A relentless focus on delivering business value through sound engineering methods and principles

  • Technical leadership experience including establishing code quality standards, best practices and leading technical design and implementation
