JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Operations Financial Control

LOCATION: Edinburgh, Birmingham or London

HOURS: Full time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, in the office.

About this opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated individual to lead the Markets Operations Financial Control team.

You'll oversee and ensure quality control for Markets transactions contributing to Financial Reporting, while leading a team of specialists to support the Head of Function. This is a pivotal role responsible for coordinating and delivering activities required to complete year end audit activity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a team of specialists responsible for the effective management of exceptions arising from cash, stock and finance reconciliations covering the Markets business for LBCM, CIB Ringfence bank and GCT.
  • Attend and contribute to governance forums and meetings with data that provides the business with oversight of Markets Operations performance and risk appetite in line with Inter-Group and Service Management agreements.
  • Provide quality control over financial transactions that contribute towards regulatory returns, statutory audit support and SOX reporting.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and own the relationship on behalf of Markets Operations with GCOO Group Reconciliations, external Audit firm, SOX and Finance division.
  • Keep abreast of Group growth strategy and industry developments appropriate to business area and the wider market to understand how the changes will influence OFC.
  • Lead, motivate, develop and appraise all team members to ensure their individual and collective performance is of the required standard and meets the current and future needs of the business.
  • Manage resources within agreed headcount budget for business unit - ensuring efficient resource allocation and consideration to known business plans and the project roadmap.
  • Be forward thinking and take ownership in driving new processing models that include digital solutions, keeping pace with an evolving external digital and regulatory landscape.

What we need from you?

  • Strong markets product, end to end system and operational risk knowledge required to ensure the complex middle office processes and the settlements and transaction reporting critical business processes are appropriately managed.
  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into a clear effective delivery and communicate effectively at all levels and across different audiences.
  • Proven track record of delivery in a complex, multi-dimensional, client facing and fast moving Financial and Capital Markets environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across different teams and hierarchies.
  • In depth knowledge of global regulatory and statutory requirements.
