Who You Are

  • Hold a Degree or Masters in Social Work
  • Possess experience working within a Child Health & Disability Team
  • Experienced in providing supervision to students and staff

What the Job Involves

  • Collaborate with a multi-agency team of professionals and partner with families
  • Lead and encourage the team using the Signs of Safety approach to social work practice
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of effective systems for quality services
  • Engage with MASH for referrals, supervise Wellbeing Assessments and Section 47 investigations
  • Support families in a multiagency capacity and attend Child Protection Case Conferences
  • Provide consultation on practice issues for staff and managers
  • Offer specialist advice and support across the team
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach staff within Children's Services and support students on placement
  • Responsibility for delegated decision making as appropriate to the role
  • Support the UASC Team and Practice Improvement in Intake and Assessment (a hybrid role, 3 days a week with at least 1 day in the office)
  • Develop practice in Intake and Assessment and manage a small UASC team of 5 practitioners
  • Undertake and promote effective assessment, care planning, intervention, and review for Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC)
  • Support UASC children and young people through strategic work and liaising with partners and third-sector organizations
  • Conduct Well-being and S47 assessments and provide short-term interventions in Intake and Assessment team
  • Manage cases on a short-term basis and help facilitate transitions to long-term support when needed
  • Work within duty rota schedules and support care and private law proceedings
  • Engage creatively under a strengths-based model to achieve the best possible outcomes for families
  • Access training opportunities for continued professional development
