Who You Are

As a qualified and experienced Social Worker, you hold a SW degree or equivalent and are currently registered with SWECC. You have a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in statutory Children's Social Care services. You possess comprehensive knowledge of legislative frameworks such as the Children Act 1989/2004, Adoption & Children Act 2002, and others relevant to child protection and welfare. You demonstrate advanced skills in needs-led assessment, critical reflection, and evidence-based decision-making. You have excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams. You are committed to continuous professional development and adhere to high ethical standards, including the HCPC Code/Standards for Social Workers.

What the Job Involves

As a Social Worker in Sefton Council's Children's Social Care team, you will manage a complex and varied caseload with appropriate supervision and support. You will contribute to the operational delivery of effective Children's Social Care services, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people. Your responsibilities will include preparing statements for court, making complex decisions, undertaking risk and need assessments, delivering protective services, and maintaining up-to-date care plans and reviews. You will communicate confidently in high-risk situations, attend multi-disciplinary forums, conduct direct work with children and families, and take part in performance and development reviews. You will also oversee the management, teaching, and assessment of social work students, ensure accurate data entry, and comply with data protection regulations. Flexibility in working locations, a commitment to health and safety policies, and active participation in the Council's Equality and Diversity policy are expected.
