Job summary

We have an opportunity for an individual to come and work within our kitchens and work alongside our team who create our made in house range for our patients and restaurant.

The ideal candidate would have a passion for food and a good knowledge of kitchens, food safety and allergen awareness.

Working in a busy environment, you'll need to have great knife skills and a good understanding of cooking techniques. You will be expected to work safely, clean as you go and expect to use different types of equipment and machinery.

Main duties of the job

You'll be creating our made in house range for our patients and on site restaurant. Creating sandwiches, wraps, salads, healthy snack options and desserts to a high quality.

Allergen awareness is of the utmost importance when creating our made in house options ensuring that recipes are followed at all time.

To ensure all Health, Hygiene, Safety, COSHH and HACCP are adhered too.

Job responsibilities

Carry out cleaning duties and maintain hygiene levels, to ensure Food Hygiene Legislation and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedures are conformed to and maintained.

Ensure correct storage, labelling and rotation of all chilled produce and monitoring of refrigerated and heated storage equipment

To maintain food quality and service at all times, and to action any defects immediately and proactive preparation of meals, snacks and sandwiches as directed.

To safely use all catering related equipment and to report any maintenance defects and problems immediately to the estates department.

To monitor levels of waste and report them to the Supervisor.

Cleaning of Floors/surfaces and machinery as identified in departments cleaning schedule.

Security of all Trust property when on duty, in accordance with Departmental Policy.

To ensure all packaged food is provided with a date illustrating the contents and use by date.

To contribute to the development of the Catering Service by putting forward suggestions for improvements.

Any other related tasks as identified by your Line Manager.

To complete daily schedules, temperature records and timesheets via app based software packages.

Person Specification

Educations, Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • Food Safety Level 2

Desirable

  • NVQ/Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in catering / hospitality / customer service

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Delivered a service in a similar role
  • Recognized Catering craft skills

Skills

Essential

  • Experience working in kitchens
