Job Description

Leadership and Operational Management: Provide clinical and operational leadership to the occupational therapy and recreational teams within the unit. Lead the recruitment, supervision, and development of staff, ensuring high levels of professional competence across the team. Manage operational aspects, including financial oversight, resource management, and the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs). Ensure all staff receive regular clinical and managerial supervision and annual appraisals. Ensure effective management of sickness/ absence. Chair clinical and non-clinical meetings as required, driving service improvements through data analysis and performance reporting. Support and manage change initiatives, implementing evidence-based practices across services. Support Improving Working Lives initiatives.Clinical Excellence: Collaborate with the occupational therapy team to support service users with complex mental health needs, using advanced clinical reasoning to deliver person-centred, outcome-focused care. Lead clinical audit, research activities, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure that care is evidence-based. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care pathways and support safe clinical practice. Provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and leadership for junior occupational therapists and therapy staff. Promote and implement therapeutic working days, wellness and recovery plans, and the use of assistive technology to enhance care delivery. Quality and Governance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe care by overseeing clinical governance frameworks, risk management protocols, and regular auditing. Lead the implementation of clinical quality initiatives and ensure compliance with national guidelines and trust policies. Foster a learning environment by ensuring continuous professional development opportunities for staff, promoting reflective practice, and addressing any concerns or complaints efficiently. Patient and Stakeholder Engagement: Promote patient-centred care by actively involving service users and carers in care planning and service development. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including commissioners, community partners, and volunteers, to enhance service delivery. Ensure patient safety and wellbeing through the effective use of risk assessments and personalised care plans.
