Job Summary: To manage referrals into the bereavement counselling service from the Bereavement Support Administrator. To assess clients awaiting bereavement support via telephone/or in person when required and allocate to students/volunteers. To take responsibility for participating in recruitment of new students on placement, and delivery of induction and/or training to students when they commence their role, in coordination with Volunteer Service Lead. To provide support and clinical guidance to students on placement as required. To provide individual counselling for clients who experience complex grief (when referral not suitable for volunteers or students due to higher risk). To be responsible for the management of own small case load. To attend monthly managerial supervision meeting with Psychological Lead. To liaise effectively with all staff both clinical and administrative within the hospice. To liaise with other health and social care staff, e.g. GPs, social workers, or mental health services. To develop relationships with colleges/training institutions. To keep accurate and timely up to date electronic clinical records of all work with clients and ensure students/volunteers do the same. To maintain all records in accordance with the Data Protection Act/GDPR. To communicate to senior medical, nursing, and psychosocial team all areas of risk to clients in the bereavement service. To keep accurate and up to date records of annual leave, study leave and expenses. To maintain confidentiality of all information in relation to your work in the hospice. This includes confidentiality of information regarding clients, hospice staff and volunteers. To demonstrate understanding and awareness of circumstances when it is necessary to reveal client information to other professionals. To work within the BACP Ethical Framework. To work within the hospice codes of conduct and policies. To attend monthly individual supervision with a professional supervisor. To attend appropriate professional training events to ensure continued professional development. To complete all mandatory and statutory training in line with role requirements. To maintain a contemporary knowledge of counselling and palliative care. To participate in appraisals by line manager.
