Do you have proven senior leadership experience within Healthcare? Are you an inspirational leader looking for a new challenge?

As the Deputy Director of Strategy you will be a highly visible member of the Trust's senior leadership team, where you will develop and maintain the Trust Clinical Strategy whilst ensuring this is in alignment with the national and system strategies. You will support with leading cross-site strategic projects and activities, enabling engagement with partner organisations and local communities in relation to strategic direction and associated strategic projects. You will deputise for the Director of Strategy, Research and Innovation as and when required.

Main duties of the job

  • You will co-ordinate the development of Trust strategies and plans.
  • Attend or chair meetings - this may include team meetings, trust meetings, ICB partnership meeting, provider collaborative meetings, regional and national meetings.
  • Support the Director of SRI to manage and develop the teams in the Strategy, Research and Innovation clinical delivery group (CDG).
  • You will provide specialist knowledge of systems and work procedures to develop strategies with the ability to engage multiple stakeholders in innovation techniques including proposals and financial ventures.
  • Develop the Trust's strategic planning and evaluation capability.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and plans.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Trust, ensuring the positive development of the Trust brand, championing the Trust's values.
  • Write, contribute, and speak to reports, proposals, business cases and presentations.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development

Desirable

  • Project Management Qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in working across organisational boundaries to develop strategies, lead and manage change, fostering collaboration and shared vision towards a common goal.
  • Experience in initiating and leading complex, multi-year, multi-stakeholder change-management initiatives within both operational and clinical teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Experience in leadership within a complex healthcare setting
  • Experience in presenting complex information and project updates to diverse groups, including executive and board level stakeholders.
  • Experience in interpreting and implementing changes in response to national healthcare policies and guidelines.

Desirable

  • Experience in leading large-scale transformation projects across an entire organisation, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Thorough knowledge of NHS policy, particularly in the context of healthcare provider collaboration and the functioning of Integrated Care Boards.
  • Understanding of ESNEFT's strategic goals, objectives, and the current healthcare landscape.
  • Familiarity with NHS priorities and policy.
  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly strategic with ability to consider future impact of upcoming and longer-term changes with demonstrable experience of writing and delivering significant strategies
  • Highly analytic with the ability to review and use data as an evidence base with the ability to question the source and trends

Desirable

  • Knowledge of resource optimisation and process efficiency strategies in healthcare management.
  • Knowledge in the application of improvement science methods and approaches for enhancing the quality and safety of healthcare services.
