Hotel Services Supervisor - Housekeeping

Job Description

To supervise, motivate and be responsible for all Housekeeping staff under your control. To supervise services in accordance with the Specification of Services to be provided for contracted services and have strong interpersonal skills with staff. To liaise with managers and heads of departments. To ensure that quality control procedures are complied with and that control documentation is completed in any designated area of Hotel Services. To be totally flexible within the Hotel Services Department throughout the Unit. To act on own initiative at weekends when no management staff are on duty, and make decisions in the managers absence. To manage work schedules to accurately reflect the workload and make temporary adjustments to ensure service requirements are met within any designated area of Hotel Services. The Supervisor is responsible for checking equipment; issue, delivery and stock control of all cleaning materials on a daily basis and food stock control for catering purposes. To ensure that all defects are reported - machinery and buildings. To comply with Statutory and Health Authority Policies on Health & Safety and Hygiene Regulations and Governance. To carry out first line counselling of staff. To ensure that industrial relations and human relations within the Hotel Services Departments and the good relationships between Hotel Services Supervisors, Staff and Trades Unions are maintained and improved. To liaise closely with Hotel Services Managers and report on the situation of service provision. To have the ability to practically solve problems on the shop floor to ensure services are not compromised. To have persuasive and influencing skills in getting the best out of staff and the resources available. To participate in the recruitment and selection of new employees. To have the ability to plan tasks and staff in an emergency or short notice, eg. floods, commissioning of new buildings, closing of wards and bays. To be able to communicate verbally with all professionals across the Trust. To be able to work to personal deadlines and manage a team that have deadlines to meet. To carry a bleep and authorise, plan and organise any work that is required. To ensure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times to ensure quality and delivery of service. To ensure that staff understand their responsibility regarding the general security of buildings. To carry out on the job training with staff following their induction training programme, including safe use of equipment. To undertake any duties that are commensurate with the post and grade that have been discussed with the post holder. To attend mandatory training and any other training courses deemed necessary for the post holder to carry out their duties. To participate in annual staff appraisals. To wear the uniform as issued and maintain an appearance at a standard commensurate with the duties and role of the post. To wear an ID badge as issued in the interests of security in accordance with Trust policy.
