This fully supported role provides the perfect blend of patient care and personal growth. You'll spend part of your week working in a supportive GP practice, while also having dedicated time to develop your leadership expertise. With mentoring and study leave built into your schedule, you'll have the opportunity to pursue a higher qualification in a secondary area of interest, supported by a financial contribution of up to £2000 toward costs, along with up to £1,000 towards top-up indemnity fees.

Main duties of the job

We're seeking a passionate and forward-thinking GP to join our innovative iGP scheme. By working in this integrated role, you'll be part of a collaborative environment that benefits both professionals and patients alike. This is a unique chance for qualified GPs to gain valuable leadership experience with guidance from senior clinicians and the primary care academy team, while enjoying the flexibility to develop your skills in a protected, supported way.

Your week will include four clinical sessions, two focused on leadership development, and two non-clinical sessions dedicated to study leave, mentoring, and educational sessions. Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Primary professional qualification in medicine e.g., MBBS MB BCh
  • Full registration and in good standing with the relevant professional body, e.g., GMC
  • Obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) as a GP and gained an MRCGP or be within three months of doing so.
  • Listed on the Wales Medical Performers List
  • BLS and AED certificate valid within last 12 months
  • Commitment to CPD

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a GP and with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of involvement in leadership and management commensurate with experience, with reflection of personal impact
  • Evidence of effective team working in partnership with stakeholders to achieve common objectives

Desirable

  • An interest in MDT working and clinical leadership.

Essential

  • Agree to undertake a higher qualification in a relevant area during the post.
  • Valid DBS check
  • Full indemnity will includ the Welsh risk pool and own defence union for supplementary cover.

  • An enthusiasm for general practice and a keen interest in developing a second interest area.
  • Leadership aspirations and effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, evidence-based practice, patient safety, and clinical QI initiatives.
  • A team player with an ability to work in multi-professional teams who is keen to learn and continuously improve their knowledge of sustainability
  • Keen interest in developing a portfolio career with an interest in a secondary specialism or/and medical education and training
  • Ability to manage/prioritise multiple complex tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to cope under pressure and to manage uncertainty.
  • Demonstrate initiative and resilience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to build rapport, listen, persuade, and negotiate
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills
