Imaging Assistant | Sevenoaks Medical Centre, Sevenoaks Full Time Permanent | 37.5 hours per week | Competitive Salary Do you have experience of working in a healthcare environment and hold a NVQ 2 (equivalent) in Health & Social Care and looking for a new challenge, working across different imaging modalities? We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and dynamic care support worker to join our state-of-the-art Imaging Department as an Imaging Assistant. In this role you will assist our Radiographers and Staff Nurses with a wide range of diagnostic procedures whilst providing an excellent standard of patient centred care at all times. KIMS Hospital is the largest independent hospital in Kent, and this role is based in our Sevenoaks Medical Centre. The team consists of Nurses, Care Support Workers, Radiographers, Physical Therapists and administrators to provide outpatient and diagnostic services to the local community across to a full range of clinical specialties, including orthopaedics, dermatology, urology, gynaecology, gastroenterology and more. Shifts will be 07:45 - 20:15 between Monday and Friday. Role Responsibilities include: Ensuring patients comfort when in the ultrasound environment, ensuring confidentiality and dignity are preserved at all times. Assist the Radiologist and team members in the preparation and after care of patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Assist the Lead Nurse/Radiographer in preparation and after care of patients undergoing ultra sound guided injections or procedures Assist the Radiologist with Ultrasound guided Fine Needle Aspirations (FNA's). Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the samples. Assist the Mammographers in the preparation and after care of patients undergoing breast radiographic examinations. Assist the Breast Radiologist in undertaking biopsy & aspiration procedures. Ensuring that the equipment is set up correctly, collecting the biopsy sample. Assist with patients in MRI and CT supporting the radiographers to ensure a smooth running of the imaging lists and providing support for the patients. The role involves providing both administrative and clinical support within the imaging department. Promote independence and encourage the patient to undertake all tasks within their capabilities, providing-assistance. Ensure correct record keeping for the patient Person Specification: Hold a minimum NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent. Be a caring and compassionate individual Be able to demonstrate high levels of mental resilience in order to work in a changing and often challenging environment Have a minimum 6 months experience in a care environment working within hospital or clinical setting. Flexibility to work in different departments, rotating between ultrasound, mammography and cross-sectional imaging. Knowledge of the radiology workflow (including knowledge of RIS, PACS and Compucare).
