Job summary

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic PSIRF Implementation Lead to join our friendly and dedicated Governance and Quality Assurance Team at Brainkind.

As the PSIRF Implementation Lead,you will develop, implement, and embed the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) at Brainkind for healthcare provided by an independent health and social care organisation under the NHS standard contract and to support the strategic aims of the national Patient Safety Strategy. You will drive a systemic review and changes through engagement with internal and external stakeholders to successfully deliver the requirements for the framework, tracking and reporting progress and following robust project management methodology. Two key deliverables will be the Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP) and the Patient Safety Incident Policy aligned with the national programme.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for candidates with a `Can do attitude and would like to talk with you if you have experience implementing PSIRF in an NHS trust or independent health and social care provider; expertise in patient safety and improvement; can evidence successful implementation of managing projects and have experience or awareness of Health & Social Care regulation and inspection frameworks.

The role is hybrid working from our offices at the Brainkind Neurological Centre in York and you must be prepared for occasional travel to other nationwide locations, services and meetings with some overnight stays required.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will lead and support the implementation of the PSIRF project as part of the Governance and Quality Assurance Team by working with operational managers, clinicians, corporate teams and external stakeholders to successfully deliver the requirements for the framework, tracking and reporting progress following robust project management methodology. Two key deliverables will be the Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP) and the Patient Safety Incident Policy aligned with the national programme.

Main responsibilities

Delivering, implementing, and embedding the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) proportionate to a charitable independent health and social care organisation.

Support safety improvement, ensuring that systems thinking, human factors understanding and just culture principles are embedded in the PSIRF at Brainkind.

Ensure leadership is central to the delivery of all PSIRF activities by developing organisational understanding of PSIRF.

Work collaboratively, to provide PSIRF expertise to key stakeholders to ensure awareness, understanding and are able to deliver on the Patient Safety Incident Response Plan.

To develop and support the implementation of the LFPSE reporting system for the organisation.

Support the planning, delivery and facilitation of events and opportunities for experiential learning for large and small groups of stakeholders.

To work collaboratively with the Learning and Organisational Development Team as a subject matter expert to ensure all training is fit for purpose, current, role appropriate and reflective of the needs of the organisation.

Take a lead role in the identification and development of opportunities for training, support, coaching and mentoring staff in improvement to build capacity and capability for organisational improvement.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Expert knowledge of the NHS patient safety strategy and how it can be implemented.
  • An understanding of approaches to improving patient safety in health systems.
  • Good knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and requirements, governance, incident response, risk management and measuring and improving the quality and safety.
  • Experience of implementing national guidelines and policies with the ability to interpret national advice, guidance and requirements and advise on how these should be implemented.
  • Evidence of managing a successful project and/or operational performance and improvement; including the development and monitoring of outcome measures.
  • Good IT skills using Microsoft products including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Experience of running and handling reports.
  • Experience of working within an environment requiring confidentiality and integrity.
  • Secretarial and/or administrative experience.
  • Able to manage purchase orders for the team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to deal with queries in a professional manner at all times.
  • Proficient organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex information to a wider audience.
  • Ability to use own initiative and be adaptive and flexible.
