An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative Occupational Therapist to lead and develop the Physical Occupational Therapy Service based in Princess of Wales Hospital at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

This post provides a unique opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with significant experience of working within physical services as well as colleagues in health, and social care.

The post holder will work with colleagues across health and social care to embed D2RA and maintain patient flow through the acute hospital site. The post holder will be expected to work alongside colleagues in the co-design of new services, as well as ensuring the delivery of an evidence-based, high quality and efficient service.

We are an innovative team, developing new ways of working to meet increasing demands and the successful applicant will be a part of this exciting transformation. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and creatively in both the leadership and clinical aspects of the role.

Main duties of the job

Inherent within the role is a responsibility for

  • Undertaking all aspects of clinical and managerial responsibilities as an autonomous practitioner for a team of OTs and support staff
  • Providing a client-centered, evidence-based service to adults with both complex and varied needs.
  • Training and development of staff in OT, other disciplines and other agencies
  • Managing a small, caseload within the service to of support the delivery of services.
  • Leading in service development, utilising a strong evidence- base and innovations in practice to ensure best management of resources and best outcomes for children and young people, and their families/carers
  • Representing the OT service, the profession and service users within the wider health, social, and political community, including All Wales and National Forums

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council
  • Post graduate training in clinical education Evidence of commitment to CPD
  • Evidence of ability to work at Masters level and/or management qualifications e.g ILM or clinical leadership
  • Specialist knowledge of professional assessments and interventions relevant to Physical inpatient OT services
  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence base and and current agenda/drivers for health, social care and education policy including legislation
  • Detailed knowledge and application of principles of clinical governance and risk management
  • Evidence of critical appraisal/analytical thought
  • Ability to analyse professional and ethical issues

Desirable

  • Knoweldge of standardised and non standardised assessments
  • Interest and involvement quality, audit and service evaluation
  • Detailed understanding of the principles of partnership working
  • Membership of professional body
  • Knowledge of national drivers for health provision

Experience

  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in specialist area/leadership related to post.
