Job summary

Come join us as a Retail Van Driver and help us support local families and children!

As a Retail Van Driver, you will collect donated furniture and other stocks from donors, move stock between our shops and warehouse, and deliver purchased stock to customers.

Main duties of the job

You will be the face of Helen & Douglas House to the public, to our donors, and customers so you will be expected to always conduct yourself in a highly professional manner and provide excellent customer service.

Working with the Area and Shop Managers and other colleagues across the organisation, you will also support efforts to promote the shops and the work of Helen & Douglas House.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current, full driving licence. The post holder must be able to drive in order to discharge the duties of the role.

Experience

Essential

  • Considerable van driving experience. Experience of van driving to multi sites against tight schedules and completing corresponding paperwork. Experience in a role which involves a high degree of customer interaction.

Skills

Essential

  • Able to recognise the need to show sensitivity and compassion whilst still achieving the task. Well organised and able to adapt and prioritise to changing circumstances. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with good attention to detail. An exceptionally friendly and helpful manner with a focus on providing excellent customer service. The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people. Ability to lift furniture and other donations on a regular basis. Commitment and conscientious approach to work. Responsive and helpful manner. Trustworthy and honest. Non-judgemental outlook with the ability to get on with people from all walks of life.
