Main duties of the job

As a Second Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavorsome, and well-balanced menus for the care home residents. You will have the chance to work with fresh, seasonal produce and deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the long hours and split shifts typical of the industry. Your role will involve managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, helping with menu development, and ensuring the creation of warm, efficient, and enjoyable work environment for the team. The position also requires strong understanding of nutrition, HACCP, and the ability to work within budget.

You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. Qualifications

Essential

  • You will need to hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, along with experience in helping lead and inspire a team, a good understanding of nutrition, and experience of working with fresh seasonal food.
