JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title - Senior Research Coordinator, Centre for Post-Collision Care Employer -Devon Air Ambulance Trading Company Limited Location - Head Office, Exeter, with opportunities for remote working Reports to -Director, Centre for Post-Collision Care Hours -37.5hrs pw, Monday to Friday Salary - £45,000 per annum Duration - 2-year fixed term contract Internal Support - Director, Centre for Post-Collision Care, Research Lead, Joint Operations Director, Head of Operations, Researchers, Business Intelligence Team. External Support -Academic and non-academic partners (including Universities), research collaborators. RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Communications and relationships Lead junior researchers, ensuring project alignment and high-quality research output. Establish partnerships with universities, partners and international research bodies. Develop and implement communication strategies to promote the Centres mission and services. Maintain confidentiality while facilitating collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. Represent the Centre at meetings, conferences and international forums, including WHO and UN events. Knowledge and experience Proven experience in research project coordination and team management Strong background in strategic research planning and execution, especially in global health or injury prevention research. Ability to work with international organisations and foundations. Experience with grant writing and securing research funding. Training/Qualifications Full UK driving licence. Good IT skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Teams. Business / management qualification / degree (e.g. MBA) Willingness to undertake statutory training and any professional development as deemed appropriate by the organisation. Planning and organisational skills Oversee the planning and execution of research projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and objectives. Develop strategic plans aligned with the Centre's long-term goals, including expanding research capabilities and partnerships. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior researchers, fostering a culture of academic growth. Creative and intellectual effort Assist with research conception, delivery and write-up Assist with ethics applications, project write-up, blogs etc Reflect and evaluate on strategic challenges and consider alternative options. Identify own CPD requirements and ensure maintenance of all qualifications and competencies required to undertake the role. Innovate and implement new programs and services to enhance post-collision care. Develop strategic plans to address emerging trends and challenges in post-collision care. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and creative problem-solving within the Centre. - Innovate and implement new programs to enhance post-collision care research. Lead research initiatives addressing global challenges in post-collision care, particularly for low- and middle-income countries. Emotional effort Frequent interaction with highly sensitive and complex research data. Support junior researchers in navigating demanding or emotionally charged research environments. Physical skills and effort This role involves periods of extended concentration and analysis, particularly in the evaluation of research data. As a leader/manager with critical decision-making responsibilities, meet the requirements of our randomised Drug and Alcohol screening. This role will require standard keyboard skills. Accountability, autonomy and judgement Responsible for the independent management of research initiatives and delivery of strategic project outcomes. Accountable for the oversight of research quality, ethical compliance, and alignment with global health priorities. Financial, physical and information resources Manage budgets for research projects, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to grant requirements. Maintain accurate documentation of research activities, including compliance with international research standards. Policy and service Contribute to policy development in road injury research, supporting the Centres collaboration with international health bodies like WHO and Vision Zero South West. Ensure all research complies with relevant data protection regulations and ethical guidelines. Working conditions Work involves a combination of office-based tasks and travel to attend research conferences, academic partnerships, and fieldwork related to post-collision care. The post will involve using VDU for lengthy periods. Leadership and people Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members. Encourage and facilitate ongoing training and development opportunities. Set clear goals and expectations, and hold team members accountable for their performance. Lead and mentor junior researchers, providing guidance on both technical and professional development. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including international research partners and funding bodies.
