Bus Ambassador

Northumberland County Council

Job Description

ROLE OF THE JOB
As a key member of our team, you'll be out and about across Northumberland, conducting daily patrols to monitor how well bus services are running. You'll gather important data on services, stations, and stops, such as ensuring that electronic displays are working and stations are clean and well-maintained.
Interacting with passengers will be a big part of your day. Whether you're chatting with them about their travel experiences, helping with wayfinding, or providing information on fares and routes, you'll be the friendly face of our bus service. You'll also be there to lend a hand to passengers with visible or hidden disabilities, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported throughout their journey.
In addition to helping passengers on their way, you'll also play a crucial role in gathering feedback. By conducting regular passenger surveys and engaging directly with bus users, you'll help us identify any unmet needs and work towards solutions. Plus, you'll actively promote public transport, sharing the benefits of bus travel and encouraging more people to hop on board.
This is an 18 month fixed-term post, funded until March 2026.
