You are a dedicated and qualified Educational Psychologist with a psychology-based first degree recognized by the British Psychological Society, and preferably a post-graduate qualification or in the process of achieving it. You are registered or expect to register with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist. You have experience working within a local authority context, collaborating with children, young people, families, schools, and the wider workforce. Your strong knowledge of psychological theory, child development, legislation, and current issues in education enables you to positively impact children and young people's outcomes. Your excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills empower you to be a trusted and proactive professional. You can work both independently and as a part of a team and are committed to ongoing personal and professional development. You possess a valid driver's license and have access to a car, ensuring you are mobile and responsive to the job's demands.
What the Job Involves
The role of Educational Psychologist at Lancashire County Council involves applying psychology and child development expertise to optimize outcomes for children and young people up to the age of twenty-five. You will collaborate with children, families, educational providers, and the wider workforce to ensure children feel safe, do well, and are happy. Your responsibilities include safeguarding the welfare of children, supporting the local authority in resource optimization, applying your psychology knowledge to promote positive outcomes, and working with special educational needs as per relevant legislation. You will contribute to assessments, deliver specialist support, participate in team and service meetings, maintain accurate records, and develop and deliver training. You will engage in evaluation and reporting tasks, support the implementation of policy and practice, and commit to your continuing professional development. The role requires working virtually, and you will be involved in completing assessments as part of the job scope.
