You are a professional with a background in Social Work or a related field, with a focus on working with children, young people, and families. You are committed to continuous professional development and possess a deep understanding of child development, parenting capacity, and statutory frameworks. You have significant experience in working with vulnerable families within an early help context and possess strong leadership skills. You excel in supervising and managing staff while promoting anti-discriminatory and anti-racist practices.

You demonstrate the ability to effectively summarize, analyze, and evaluate complex information to formulate and implement effective intervention plans with families. You are adept at promoting openness, transparency, and accountability, along with emotionally intelligent supervision. You are skilled at driving service improvements, producing high-quality reports, and have excellent verbal communication skills. You work flexibly, including during evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of families while promoting diversity and inter-agency collaboration.

What the Job Involves

As the Family Early Help Team Manager, you are responsible for providing exemplary leadership and management to a team of early help practitioners. Your role involves promoting excellent practice to achieve high-quality outcomes for children and families by ensuring professional standards, accountability, and safety are maintained. You manage team workloads, performance, and developmental needs.

Your duties include supporting and assessing newly qualified social workers, participating in service development, and building partnerships while managing authority ethically. You ensure comprehensive assessments and plans are devised, incorporating feedback from families and stakeholders. This role requires organizing complex information and maintaining up-to-date documentation to support decision-making and safeguard children effectively.

The position is part-time to cover a secondment, working full days on Monday and Tuesday, and a half day on Wednesday. While primarily located at the Ann Bernadt Children's Centre in Peckham, you have flexibility for office and home-based work. You will ensure that the Family Early Help Service promotes relationship-based practice and adapts based on local and statutory guidance, aiming to prevent escalation to statutory interventions.
