Who You Are

You are a qualified Health and Safety Professional with relevant certifications such as IOSH Chartered Member and NEBOSH Diploma Part 2 or equivalent. Additionally, you possess a degree or have relevant knowledge and experience supporting your role. You have demonstrated experience managing significant health and safety functions in large, multi-disciplined organizations with comparable scope and resources. Your background includes maintaining effective partnerships and working relationships within complex policy and service environments. You are adept at analyzing local government health and safety issues, advising on legislative changes, and contributing to strategic decision-making. Your skills extend to facilitating change and guiding stakeholders and colleagues towards continuous improvement. You understand the issues facing local government and are committed to equality and diversity. You have exceptional project management and financial skills, with a profound understanding of health and safety legislation and best practices. An enhanced DBS is essential, and an RPO qualification is desired but not mandatory.

What the Job Involves

The job involves leading and contributing to the efficient delivery of health and safety services, proactively mobilizing resources, and fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. You will work collaboratively with council services, partners, and stakeholders to achieve the council's objectives and build a reputable, value-driven organization for residents. Supporting the Health and Safety Department in developing standards, procedures, and policies, you will provide advice to all stakeholders on health and safety matters. Responsibilities include auditing compliance with health and safety policies, implementing the council's strategy, and driving service improvement. You will manage departmental finances, foster business partnerships, and ensure compliance with legislative and council regulations. Additionally, you will conduct health and safety audits, deliver training, and attend relevant committees. The role requires hybrid work with at least three days per week at the Slough office, and the anticipated pay rate should be included on the CV.
