You are committed to continuous improvement, are receptive to new ideas, and can remain professional and calm under pressure.

What the Job Involves

As a Senior Planner, you will lead the Southwark Planning Department's Development Plan, fostering a learning environment for staff development. You will collaborate with colleagues internally and throughout London, driving improvement agendas and leading your own policy documents. Key responsibilities include working with local partners and departments to manage policy and monitoring opportunities, delivering high-quality planning services, and contributing to significant planning decisions and projects that impact the borough. You will provide expert advice on statutory planning processes, support team projects, and promote service excellence. The role involves regular contact with senior council members and external stakeholders, managing financial negotiations in planning applications, and may require working outside normal hours.
