Genuine work-life balance
Think about this...What about a job where:
- People from all kinds of backgrounds are successful and people of all ages including people shifting careers aged 40-65?
- 80% of the staff work 3 or 4 days per week?
- Where you can potentially work your hours at times between 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays?
- Where most staff vary their working hours week to week to fit in around time with family, friends, pets, medical appointments etc?
- Where you can compress your hours over 2 weeks to get blocks of days off?
- Where you generally work within half an hour of your home, you don't have to travel in rush hour, travel time is built into your contract, and you get a travel allowance payment?
- Where the company shuts down over Xmas and new year for at least a full week, so you can have a proper break?
- Where work stops at the end of your shift, you can't take your work home with you and if you have been working hard and have done well you can even finish a bit early?
- Where training is comprehensive but done remotely by home study and followed up with excellent ongoing support & encouragement?
- Where you don't have a boss breathing down your neck, there aren't lots of pointless meetings, no snide emails, and no passive-aggressive post-it notes in the office kitchen?
We think supporting a good work-life balance for our staff is business-critical. That is why we start our recruitment adverts talking about how our jobs can deliver that for you rather than boasting about how great we think we are as a company. Instead, we offer flexible local working and a culture that supports you maximising your life outside of work.
What we do is also very, very worthwhile...
Naomi House & Jacksplace is an amazing charity
Naomi House first opened in 1997 to offer care and support to children who were not expected to live until adulthood. Since then, we have cared for more than 1,000 children and families from across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Isle of Wight, West Sussex, Surrey and beyond.
Naomi House nursing and medical staff provide individualised nursing care that helps to enhance short lives and allows local families to make the most of their precious time with their children.
Our children's hospice provides excellent facilities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all of our children and families. There are 11 children's bedrooms and a number of family bedrooms at Naomi House. Additionally, the state-of-the-art building includes spaces for music therapy, art and messy play, a multi-sensory room, a hydrotherapy pool and dedicated spaces for end-of-life care and post-bereavement support.
Our Play Team organise stimulating games and activities for the children staying at Naomi House, with their needs and abilities in mind, as well as organising exciting events and outings too, so there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Respite care gives families the chance to regroup, to relax and to rebalance family life. Naomi House & Jacksplace offers 24-hour respite care and as well as any emergency respite care, each family accepted for care at Naomi House is able to enjoy a number of planned respite nights in-house each year.
Naomi House has an experienced Family Support Team that offers practical, emotional and spiritual support for the whole family, throughout their child's life and after death.

We make a real difference
The care is immensely valuable and free to the families that use it, but it costs around £7.2 million per year to run Naomi House & Jacksplace. 10% or less is provided by Government funding and so we rely heavily on voluntary contributions from local people and businesses. As a face-to-face fundraiser you can be a vital part of helping Naomi House & Jacksplace raise the money that it needs to be able to support local families facing some of the toughest times imaginable.

How you can make a difference
The role is fundraising as a 3rd party agent, employed by The Fundraising Partnership, representing and fundraising on behalf of Naomi House & Jacksplace. Your job will be to find more people to support us with a small regular donation so that we can make a big difference to families with children with life-limiting and end-of-life conditions. You do this by talking to people at their homes, being friendly, explaining what Naomi House & Jacksplace does, and asking them to become a regular supporter.
A typical fundraiser will raise more than £400,000 for the charity every year that they work for us. So, you would be doing do a job where after 5 years of work, through your professionalism, integrity, and hard work you could raise more than £2million for charities that deal, quite literally in matters of life and death. Charity lotteries are vital to keeping these charities going.
Here is a short snapshot of a day in the life of a face-to-face fundraiser, who in this example is working on behalf of Derian House Children's hospice.
