Think about this...what about a job where:

1. People from all kinds of backgrounds are successful and people of all ages including people shifting careers aged 40-65?
2. 80% of the staff work 3 or 4 days per week?
3. Where you can potentially work your hours at times between 9am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays?
4. Where most staff vary their working hours week to week to fit in around time with family, friends, pets, medical appointments etc? You can even compress your hours over 2 weeks to get blocks of days off?
5. Where you generally work within half an hour of your home, you don't have to travel in rush hour, travel time is built into your contract, and you get a travel allowance payment?
6. Where the company shuts down over Xmas and New Year for at least a full week, so you can have a proper break?
7. Where training is comprehensive but done remotely by home study - so no need to travel to a hotel and stay overnight - and is followed up with excellent ongoing support & encouragement?

What we do is also very, very worthwhile...

Strokes are devastating and affect people of all ages suddenly and without warning. The statistics are alarming. Someone in the UK has a stroke every 5 minutes, that is 100,000 people per year and that includes 400 babies and children. It is the 4th biggest cause of death in the UK.1 in 8 stroke victims die within 1 month of their stroke.

There are 1.3 million people living with the effects of stroke. Strokes are the biggest single cause of disability in the UK and 2/3rds of stroke survivors leave the hospital with a disability, 80% have restricted mobility and 1 in 3 will have language impairment like Aphasia.

What these numbers don't convey is how a stroke completely changes lives without any warning and also completely changes the lives of the families of the victim too - taking the loved one as they once knew them away from them, thrusting people into the role of carer and leaving them with the emotional challenges of such a sudden and traumatic life change.

Stroke Association is an amazing charity!

Whilst the number of strokes is increasing the survival rate, medical care and after-stroke care is getting better year after year thanks to the work of the Stroke Association and our supporters.

We provide specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives. Examples of our impact include:

• The FAST campaign has saved thousands of lives by getting more people to the hospital sooner after a stroke and it is all based upon research that was funded by Stroke Association.
• We funded research into thrombectomies which is almost a miracle treatment for certain ischaemic strokes, and we are now campaigning for it be fully rolled out via the NHS.
• We funded the research into the pinprick test for 15 years that is now being trialled and allows paramedics in the ambulance to definitively confirm that someone is a stroke victim speeding up the time to treatment when a stroke survivor arrives at the hospital.
• The NHS connect service now means we can connect with all stroke survivors to get access to the support they need after discharge.
• Our local coordinators support 43,00 people per year who are recovering from stroke and distribute emergency grants to pay for household and other adjustments.
• Our helpline helps 18,000 people per year with advice and support.
• We support over 600 local support groups that help stroke survivors with mobility, language, and emotional support.

Regular donations make a real difference

All of this work relies upon public donations. We need to find mow supporters and face-to-face contact is vital to help us raise more money so we can help even more people. Our lottery has raised £1.7 million since 2017 and nearly all of those 18,000 supporters have been recruited by face-to-face fundraisers.

You can make a real difference

The role is fundraising as a 3rd party agent, employed by The Fundraising Partnership, representing and fundraising on behalf of the Stroke Association. Your job will be to find more people to support us with a small regular donation. You do this by talking to people at their homes, being friendly, explaining what Stroke Association does and asking them to become a regular supporter of the charity.

A typical fundraiser can raise more than £400,000 for the charity every year that they work for us. So, you would be doing do a job where after 5 years of work, through your professionalism, integrity, and hard work you could raise more than £2 million for charities that deal, quite literally in matters of life and death.

People of all backgrounds and ages can be successful at this

We are recruiting for jobs where genuinely the most successful people are in their mid-50s and 60s. It really suits, for example, older women with some caring responsibilities of one sort or another, and older men are also highly successful at this. We actively want people over 55 years old who are friendly, can relate to people and have life experience. People of all ages often trust older people more and in this role that is a crucial attribute.

Job requirements & details

You need to be reasonably mobile and physically fit and active, but we can train you in all other parts of the job very easily. You will also be ethical and take pride in doing a job the right way. You need interpersonal skills, to be a good listener and be able to communicate effectively, but you don't need to be really persuasive or great at making speeches as it isn't what people think of as a sales job at all.

Most of all you need to have real integrity and self-motivation. We employ good people, treat them well and we trust our people to work to high standards. We have an outstanding team of fundraisers who work to the highest standards and deliver the best quality results in our industry. It's a privilege to join our team. All sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds can be successful but you must have personal integrity and self-motivation.

It is a salaried role enhanced by a commission with full-time and part-time options, travel costs payment included. You will need to have a car but will typically be working within 30 minutes of your home. Full-time OTE is between £30-40k pa. We provide full training which is delivered via a home study course and ongoing support and coaching in the field.
