This is an exciting opportunity for a Pre Construction Manager to join our Civils team covering the North West.

What you'll be doing

Lead the delivery of Preconstruction projects, and conversion into Construction Contracts for the Balfour Beatty Regional Civils Works. Projects will be within the Civil Engineering sector including, Highways, Active & Sustainable Travel, Flood and Coastal and Energy Transition. Projects ranging from 5M to 100M.

Lead two-stage pre-construction and tender activities in line with health and safety, budget requirements and customer drivers setting the pre-construction strategy and converting opportunities into construction contracts.Lead PCSA / 2-stage pre-construction activities in line with budget requirements and customer drivers for Civil Engineering and infrastructure projects

Ensure that pre-construction and tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner

Manage Balfour Beattys internal governance process

Manage the completion of contract governance

Formulate and implement the pre-construction strategy to deliver the project and convert into a construction contract

Formulate and implement the pre-construction strategy to deliver the project

Complete written responses to relevant tender questions submitted as part of a bid or pre-construction process

Consider the commercial attractiveness of project and report conclusions early to management

Assist in setting process key objectives and timescales, including managing bid cost / pre-construction budgets

Identify significant development/project risks and opportunities and report these using the IRIS system

Identify, report and manage significant development/project risks and opportunities

Meet customers on a regular basis and respond to queries

Convert 2-stage opportunities to on-site delivery projects

Liaise with the customer and act as the point of contact for delivering any aspects of the bid or pre-construction process

Who we're looking for

Previous experience within the civil engineering or construction industry is necessary
Results driven with an understanding of risk management and profit
Team player who encourages high standards and is quality driven
Flexible to ensure deadlines are met
Capable of managing multiple bids and teams at the same time, each with different priorities and levels of complexity
Strong negotiator
Good interpersonal and communication skills are required,
Customer focussed with the ability to recognise value opportunities
Ability to travel within the Region and Nationally
Able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance
