We're looking for a Strategic Account Manager to join us and own one of our biggest corporate accounts and lead a team of Account Managers and Retail Development Managers. You'll drive business growth from this key partnership and manage your team who will be accountable for the performance, compliance, planning and execution of all activities.

As a Strategic Account Manager, we'll look to you to be a revenue driver and key ambassador for the whole Co-op Group, creating the overall success and growth of the business through the partnerships you'll manage. In this role you'll work in a hybrid way - splitting your time between home, our Scunthorpe and Manchester offices, and visiting our suppliers across the UK (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with your accounts and serve as the main point of contact representing both Nisa, Co-op Franchise and business development opportunities
  • Identify and develop opportunities to further increase both volume of trade and the overall profitability of the partnerships
  • Provide clear leadership by understanding the partner contract and the requirements of both parties to make sure all elements are delivered
  • Work closely with internal and external partners, including legal teams, to make sure Co-op remains fully compliant
  • Contribute to the creation, development, and execution of strategic business plans, including addressing any potential challenges
  • Identify and position growth opportunities and anticipate market trends

This role would suit people who have

  • Excellent negotiation techniques to reach beneficial agreements
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to suit a range of audiences
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and challenge people of all levels of seniority (including exec-level colleagues) inclusively
  • Extensive experience of working with sales processes and techniques
  • Good trading acumen, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, market dynamics, and partner needs

Why Co-op?

If you've got the skills and experience we're looking for, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You'll also get:

  • Private healthcare
  • A company car or £6,000 car allowance
  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream - a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
