Senior Network Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead network infrastructure design, deployment, and automation efforts. In this role, you will manage a variety of network solutions, including Cisco Meraki, Teltonika, Ubiquiti, and Starlink, while driving innovation through network automation and security best practices. The role requires on-call availability and the flexibility to travel to our sites as needed.

You will also mentor the team, support key infrastructure projects, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Location: Flexible (Travel to Nuneaton and Burton On Trent required, with ad hoc visits to other locations)

Responsibilities

• Network Design and Deployment: Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) using Cisco Meraki (MX, MS, MR), Ubiquiti Switches and Wireless APs, Cisco Catalyst (9200, 9300, 9500, etc.), and Starlink. Ensure systems are secure and compliant with H&B standards.

• Configuration and Security: Configure and secure Cisco ASA, ISR/ASR, Teltonika RUTX50/TRB500, and Ubiquiti devices. Monitor and safeguard access across network environments, working with AWS and Azure cloud platforms.

• Automation and Scripting: Implement automation using Ansible and Python to streamline network operations. Mentor team members on automation techniques.

• Incident and Problem Resolution: Lead complex incident resolution efforts, using tools like SolarWinds and ThousandEyes to maintain network stability. Manage escalations and troubleshoot critical issues.

• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain documentation using Netbox. Ensure knowledge sharing across teams and foster a collaborative environment.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to influence decisions related to network and security architecture.

• Technical Leadership: Lead technical initiatives and mentor team members. Take ownership of investigations and drive continuous improvement.
