SALARY: £86,900pa to £102,300pa (Dependant on depth of experience and location) plus the benefits listed below
LOCATIONS: Manchester, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds or Halifax
HOURS: Full-time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites

The Cloud Adoption team is on the journey to accelerate the use of the next generation technical platform. That will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations. We're looking for a Senior Engineer to join our GCP Engineering team within the Cloud Adoption Engineering Lab. We're seeking a highly experienced and motivated hands-on Engineer to play a pivotal role in leading and crafting the adoption of our Google Cloud Platforms. You'll be working closely with business units within bank, supporting use of public cloud for their applications and help them engineer and deliver solutions to our customers. You'll advise on Public Cloud Adoption and will showcase strong interpersonal and communication skills. All this, while continually developing yourself and your team with new industry trends and tooling.
Day to day, you'll....
Support our customers' complex demands by applying deep technical knowledge to ensure robust, end-to-end outcomes.
Support the growth of Cloud Adoption by advising, guiding and implementing industry best practises into consuming teams and acting as a tireless ambassador for public cloud.
Lead on supporting wider up-skilling initiatives, advocating to engineering colleagues to provide education and mentorship.
Be able to get hands-on and contribute to code on a regular basis - leading by example.
Take ownership for your team's day to day running, managing their priorities and helping remove impediments.
Work closely with Product Owners to gather and interpret the needs of internal customers across the bank as well as feed into product roadmaps and vision.
Be proficient in leading technical conversations with partners of varying levels of technical background, including Senior Management and other Domain Experts.
Be a great collaborator across internal, external, and 3rd party teams.
Drive outstanding approaches to automation and security.
Be an SME in delivering outstanding public cloud hosted solutions.
Undertake line-management responsibilities for Junior and Senior engineers.
About you
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in software engineering, infrastructure and architecture, a passion for technology and dedication to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. You'll have first-hand experience in leading engineering teams to support the adoption of public cloud. Specifically, we'd like to see;
SME/Advanced skills in at least one of: GCP Compute Services, Kubernetes & Istio, GCP Networking, Data Services and API Management (certifications desirable).
Strong experience of leading teams in the adoption and/or migration of business applications to public cloud at enterprise scale using agile methodologies.
Great understanding of Cloud Native engineering principles and experience of delivering systems based on them.
Understanding of writing and contributing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to curate cloud infrastructure.
