We're looking for a Senior IT Systems Risk Specialist to support with leading and developing its risk specialist centre of excellence, to support robust risk management in alignment with the Group's Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF). This will include giving our senior leaders and Risk Owners in these businesses advice on their risk appetite decisions, safely, and at pace.

You'll have deep operational risk knowledge and provide thought leadership, insight and oversight that supports the implementation of the second line of defence and executes its roles and responsibilities. Job Description

JOB TITLE: Senior IT Systems Risk Specialist

SALARY: £80,205 - 94,360

LOCATIONS: Bristol, Birmingham, Chester, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds or Manchester

HOURS: Full-time - 35 hours per week

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites listed above.

What will you be doing?

Influencing and consulting on Operational Technology Risk & Control:

  • Managing and driving the close relationship between Risk and Control owner teams and being their Operational Risk Specialist business partner, consulting them on key operational tech risk and control matters.
  • Providing pragmatic advice to support data-lead and well-informed key risk decisions and trade-offs (balancing commerciality and risk appetite), being bold to 'call it', and influence senior decision makers.

Shaping and implementing Governance and Compliance

  • Managing the development and implementation of a risk and control oversight plan to assess compliance to relevant laws, regulations, industry standards and controls.
  • Supporting Risk and Control owners to address control deficiencies and identifying remedial actions following operational risk events and breaches.

Reporting, Monitoring and setting Key Risk Indicators

  • Identifying and developing key risk indicators (KRIs) to enable appropriate monitoring and assisting with the development and implementation of effective, ongoing data-led operational Risk control objectives to meet the needs or risk and control owners, control specialist teams, Audit and external regulators.
  • Regularly monitoring and validating the effectiveness of the design of control measures to ensure they are achieving the control objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Technology Risk Experience

  • Detailed knowledge key technology risks, ideally ones facing financial services groups, with a proven ability to shape and drive the strategy and implementation of a company's Technical Risk Operational Risk.

Future vision and understanding of emerging technology and risks

  • Experience in effectively interpreting new operational risk regulations and emerging technology innovations (inc. AI, Digital Ledger Technology, Quantum) and anticipating the impact of changes and act accordingly.

Data-lead decision-making

  • Effective and timely decision-making skills that keeps the organisation moving forward whilst skilfully balancing difficult trade-offs.
  • Assimilating different sources of data and complex information to effectively problem-solve and make relevant conclusions and recommendations.

Governance, Risk and Regulations

  • Having deep knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and industry best-practice and using that knowledge to establish the risk appetite, policies, control objectives and performance indicators around technology risk within a large organisation, whilst continuously monitoring and reporting on these.

Effective communication skills and inclusive leadership

  • Being a strong, influencing communicator with a track-record of inspiring others by building close working partnerships and gaining followership and commitment to future action through personal integrity, collaboration and Inclusive leadership within Technology Risk Management space.
