JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer - React, Gamification

SALARY: £68,202 - £83,358

LOCATION: Dundee

HOURS: Full-time

IDEAL START DATE: Monday 21st October 2024

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at our Dundee Office.

Please note, to make the most of our training, it would be ideal if you can commit to the start date above and be able to attend the 9 week training programme full time - however this not essential.

About this opportunity

We launched the Dundee Tech School in November 2023 with the first cohort of 12 Junior Developers who underwent a 20-week Engineering training programme before joining their business teams under supervision of the Tech School Lead. Following its' success, we're now looking to recruit approx. 20 more roles that will make up 2 teams to deliver our Gamification initiative.

As part of our Dundee based Tech School cohort, you will be supported in upskilling through a structured 9-week training programme before becoming an integral part of a feature team within our Customer Waterfront Lab evolving our Digital Channels.

What you'll need

  • Professional working knowledge in building a web app ex
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Passion for web app development and eagerness to learn
  • Experience in the following technologies: React, HTML & CSS, Git/GitHub, Typescript, JavaScript
  • Experience with component libraries (e.g. MUI, Bootstrap)
  • Jest/React Testing Library
  • Experience working with RESTful API's
  • Experience of state management tools (e.g. Redux)

And any experience of these would be really useful

  • Automated functional testing (e.g. Selenium)
  • NodeJS (e.g. Express)
  • Knowledge of public cloud (e.g. GCP)
  • Eye for design/UX and passionate about improving customer experience
  • Building and shipping a hobby or commercial web app
  • An interest in gamification and/or engaging educational content
  • Over 4 years experience developing commercial Web Applications
  • Experience of leading a teams or project and mentoring junior team members.
