Job Description

The post of Delivery Manager supports the operational management and governance of the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) programme working with the NPIC Operations Director. The National Pathology Imaging Co-operative is a £37m programme funded by the UK Industry Strategy Challenge Fund to accelerate the development of opportunities in Digital Pathology and Artificial Intelligence. We provide a welcoming, professional approach to the facility, a world class centre for training and knowledge exchange in digital pathology and artificial intelligence. Organise and undertake multidisciplinary research and development. Provide day-to-day high level operational management to the NPIC team. Make a significant contribution to the management team, taking a lead on specific initiatives as designated by the NPIC Operations Director, for example, business development activities and strategic planning. Seek opportunities for reputational enhancement with Industry and drive new business opportunities and partnerships Manage a number of academic interdisciplinary clinical research projects, providing project manager level support, leading the clinical research delivery team and research fellows assigned to the projects to ensure on-time, on-budget performance. Provide advisory service on practical aspects of research design to potential sponsors and Trust departments. Be an initial and main contact for all sponsors of research programmes. Develop and review study protocols and associated study documentation. Work collaboratively with the Leeds Clinical Trials Research Unit and other academic departments to ensure effective cross discipline working in the delivery of academic research Ensure robust communication with the joint Sponsors office of LTHT/UoL Full line management responsibilities of non- clinical research delivery staff Supervise, train, and mentor clinical research staff Provide programmes of training and education to professional and non-professional groups of staff within scope of own professional practice Specification, sourcing and costing of research studies and departmental research projects. Specification, sourcing and costing of research equipment and clinical resources. Frequent collation and input of clinical trial related data into electronic systems Work closely with R & I finance to understand and actively manage financial resources, identifying threats and escalating concerns appropriately Oversee and be accountable for the processes and pathways supporting recruitment of research participants into studies Promote and increase awareness of NPIC both internally within the organisation and externally, as a centre of excellence and promote our reputation for high quality clinical research activity Provide advisory service on research study designs to potential sponsors and trust departments Exercise initiative, manage and prioritise own workload Undertake Continuing Professional Development. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Line management responsibility of NHS staff. Liaise and/or meet with the potential collaborators to obtain a full briefing on the background of the study, study objectives/design, timescale, reporting /data acquisition requirements for the portfolio of the work. Prepare costings and budget reviews for projects Prepare and review the NPIC SOPs, working closely with the NPIC management team to ensure full quality assurance and quality standards are consistently met. Prepare and review study protocols in collaboration with the clinical investigator, relevant scientists and key nursing leads to review feasibility and ensure relevant pathways are addressed to ensure delivery. Prepare and review protocol associated study documentation including undertaking a risk assessment and study intensity review as per guidelines Prepare study submissions and submit required reports to Regulatory and Research Ethics Committee as appropriate Liaise closely with Principal Investigator, research teams to ensure that the study is executed according to the protocol and complies with GCP. Ensure that all protocol violations and deviations or other unscheduled study events are appropriately reported and documented through the centralised QA process. Participate fully in Operational meetings, including preparation of presentation materials and/or verbal feedback reporting. Prepare and draft content relevant to NPIC activity for inclusion in annual reports and other forums as requested by senior management Perform secondary monitoring of in-house studies as necessary in collaboration with QA manager Prepare data for analysis Expert leadership: Managerial oversight for NPIC staff and you will work flexibly across the programme and have day-to-day responsibility for resource utilisation to support a wide range of NPIC research activity. Working closely with central R&I finance you will be responsible for ensuring accurate costing of study protocols, controlling budgets and project related expenditure. Informatics: Ensure data capture on activity is robust and consistently derived to ensure accurate analysis. Prepare regular reports for senior management on NPIC activity, performance against key metrics, opportunities for growth and development. Identifying and actively seek solutions to barriers identified or encountered. Prepare data for quarterly and annual reporting, business planning and grant development activities. Staff management: You will have direct responsibility for a designated group of research delivery staff, supporting effective recruitment, performance, professional development, conflict resolution and annual appraisal. Professional Development Complete Mandatory and Priority training within the specified timescales To maintain a high level of knowledge concerning clinical research in all the areas covered by the network. To develop and maintain appropriate information technology skills if necessary by attendance at formal training courses.
