The successful candidate will project a positive and friendly image to all patients and other visitors, while dealing with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way. Duties and Responsibilities: The following are the core responsibilities of a Healthcare Assistant. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels. To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided by the Nurses and General Practitioners Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples Undertake ECG and Diabetic Foot Checks Assist with the provision of health checks for both newly registered patients, over 75s and as part of the NHS health Check programme Conduct weight and height measurements, test and record blood pressure and blood sugar levels The testing and result recording of clinical specimens Provide assistance to patients when needed, including chaperoning when a patients requests. The ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment, working surfaces and preparing HCA room(s) prior to use Ensure adequate infection control procedures are followed at all times Managing and recalling patients prescribed specialised drugs Booking in/out of home BP machines for patient and calculating average readings before passing results to the clinical team To carry out minor dressings and injuries that present at the Practice and wound care after the patient has had an initial assessment by a nurse or clinician To report any wound concerns to the nurse or duty The collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal Complete D-dimers when requested Complete INR testing, communicating with the Practice Nurse or Duty Doctor in regards to the results To complete home visits for required tests when appropriate In addition to the above, the below are the additional core responsibilities of a Nurse Associate; To complete vaccinations such as B12, flu and pneumococcal vaccines Participate in national screening work such as cervical cytology and deliver the national immunisation and vaccination schedule Treat patients with minor injuries and manage wound care, including the removal of stitches Provide directly and assist GPs with contraceptive services
