We are a friendly swim school based in the London Borough of Richmond and operate out of 3 local schools. As a not-for-profit organisation we are committed to excellence in teaching within a small group structure. We teach everyone from babies to young adults, so we can provide a varied teaching program or specialist, depending on your skill set. Our ethos is to provide swimmers with great technique from the very start.

Job Description

Our swimming teachers are responsible for delivering Springboard lessons focused on producing great technique in a fun and positive environment.

Our teachers:

  • Know the Springboard Lesson plans and key objectives for each area
  • Know how to implement these plans effective for individual children
  • Adapt their teaching approach for student of all abilities and learning styles
  • Are ambassadors for Springboard, motivating, encouraging, and supporting both colleagues and swimmers
  • Are Role Models, leading by example and committed to continual professional development
  • Are responsible for maintaining their working environment, ensuring that it is kept clean and safe for both staff, swimmers, and their parents at all times
  • Share responsibility for water testing and training is provided for this.
  • Are responsible for maintaining records of the swimmers in their lessons, including updating progress and attendance in a timely manner
  • Are required to communicate effectively between the office, management, colleagues and communicating professionally and positively with parents of children who are of a concern for any reason such as progression or disruptive behaviour.
  • Are expected to undergo regular team training sessions; understand and follow all Springboard policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures and child protection policies; complete incident and accident reports as necessary.

Springboards lessons run Monday through to Sunday during the London Borough of Richmond term time and run out of three locations across the week. These are run primarily after school and weekends. On successful completion of their training, applicant's can be expected to be offered permanent term-time role consisting of shifts between 2 and 5.5 hours long across a maximum of 6 days. There is also opportunity to add additional hours during school holidays in our intensive Holiday Courses.

Prerequisites for training:

  • There is no upper age limit to this this role!
  • Local to the venues in which we operate; The Mall School in Twickenham (TW2), Lady Eleanor Holles in Hampton (TW12), and St Richards School in Ham (TW10).
  • Childcare or teaching experience in any industry (Parenting & Grandparenting counts!)
  • Some swimming ability and an enthusiasm for all children to become excellent swimmers
  • Available to train from 3.30pm on Weekdays (Mon-Fri - at least one of these evenings) and a minimum of 2 hours on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday daytime).
