Looking for a challenge? Try one of these 6 extreme adventure holidays

Have you always dreamt of taking on an extreme challenge, but always put it off as something you’ll do later? Well, why not turn later into now? Stepping outside of your comfort zone can be both exciting and nerve-wracking, but it can also renew your zest for life. The thrill of an exhilarating adventure is something that could stay with you for months or even years after the experience has ended.

With this in mind, we’ve carefully selected some life-changing holiday adventures to give you a flavour of some of the extreme adventures that could await you…

1. Skydiving

Skydiving is an incredible opportunity to challenge yourself, whilst seeing some of the world’s most amazing scenery. One of the best places to skydive is Skydive Empuriabrava (40 miles Northeast of Barcelona), which has stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees Mountains – plus, if you choose to do your dive during the summer months then you’ll get the benefit of the warm sunshine!

2. Swimming with sharks

Swimming with sharks is a surreal diving experience that will leave you slack-jawed as you try to take in the astonishing view of The Great White – which can be up to 6 metres in length! If you’re not sure where in the world to start, Australia is one of the best places to get up close and personal with sharks in their natural environment. Popular destinations include The Great Barrier Reef and The Neptune Islands.

3. Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania, standing at 5,895m high – making it the tallest mountain on the African continent. And for those hiking enthusiasts who love a steep challenge – you’ll be glad to know that it’s walkable. There is no upper age limit for climbing this extraordinary mountain, with the oldest person so far being 88 years old!

4. Dog sledding

Being in charge of your very own team of Huskies is an experience like no other. Combine an exhilarating ride through the snow with an unforgettable sighting of the Northern lights in Norway, or explore Arctic forests in Finnish Lapland.

5. Skiing holidays

Skiing is one of the happiest activities in the world – and you won’t fully understand why until you do it, but it’s easy to fall in love with the feeling of freedom you get everytime you take to the slopes. Austria, Bulgaria and France all offer ski resorts who will teach beginners, so even people with little or no experience can book now.

6. Desert island survival

Have you ever wondered whether you’ve got what it takes to survive on a beautiful tropical island in Panama or Tongo, with nothing but your skills and instincts to get you through? Well now you can find out on an organised desert island survival holiday. You’ll get to know what it’s actually like to be marooned on a remote island, but if things get really tough then help won’t be too far away!
