He is a quiet gentleman who enjoys to spend time relaxing at home. He loves cars and cake! He enjoys going out and about with support staff, in particular local cafés.
He will enjoy spending time with a friendly volunteer like you who has similar interests, who can chat with him about cars and family.
By visiting every other month, youwill make a huge difference.
You will be introduced and get to know him with our support and the support of the home staff.
- Visits will be every 2 months and can be during the week or weekends.
- Visits will last around 1 - 1.5 hours.
- Visits will take place at his home initially but you may be in the community after a few visits.
Before applying please check your journey to make sure it's practical for you.
As a Mencap Visiting Volunteer you will be:
- Aged 18 or over
- Friendly, patient and reliable

About this service
We offer a lifelong befriending service for people with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of individual people with a learning disability.
Our visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing.
In many cases, our visitor is the only person in someone's life who isn't paid to be there for them.
