Seeking a Volunteer Press Officer to enhance our media presence, draft press releases, and build relationships.

About us

We are a pioneering non-profit organization founded in 2021 out of the desire to promote intentional kindness and foster positive racial identity development in children and young people. Our charity's sole purpose is to advocate for kindness. We are focused on inspiring, educating, and empowering children and young adults to be kind to themselves (mental health), to others, to the environment, and extend our kindness framework to Africa.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Volunteer Press Officer/PR Specialist who can dedicate 2-3 hours a week to help elevate our presence in the media landscape. This role is ideal for individuals looking to utilise their skills in PR and media relations for a good cause. This is a flexible, remote role that can be fitted around your other commitments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a targeted media contact list tailored to our focus areas.
  • Draft and distribute one press release per month, highlighting our latest projects, events, or achievements.
  • Engage with and respond to media inquiries as they arise, passing any requests to our communications team.
  • Monitor media coverage related to our field and share relevant findings with our team.
  • Provide recommendations for potential story ideas or public relations opportunities.
  • Assist in cultivating long-term relationships with key media personnel and outlets.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in writing press releases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to independently research and identify media outlets and contacts
  • A keen interest in charities
  • Organised, with an ability to prioritise time-sensitive assignments.
