Compliance Officer - example role at DWF

As a Compliance Officer you will work closely with key stakeholders within the Business, you will provide guidance and advice as well as assist in the development of compliant solutions. You will need to be able to build good working relationships, possess excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to think independently and advise in a detached manner.

What will you be doing?

You will be learning from industry leading experts in a friendly and committed working environment and get involved in a variety of tasks such as:

  • Supporting the Head of Risk Management in ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements across the DWF business in the United Kingdom, especially in compliance with the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Law Society of Scotland.
  • Managing the renewal of professional practising certificates and authorised/recognised body status with: the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Law Society of Scotland, CILEX and other relevant professional bodies
  • Supporting the Insurance Mediation Compliance Officer to ensure that the firm complies with relevant legislation and Solicitors Regulation Authority or Law Society of Scotland Guidance.
  • Supporting the Data Protection Manager to ensure that the firm complies with the relevant legislation and the Information Commissioner’s Office.
  • To maintain an awareness of risk management and regulatory compliance trends.

In order to carry out the above you must have experience of:

  • Good working knowledge of professional legal services and associated processes or procedures.
  • Previous experience of working within a regulated environment, within a legal environment
  • Ability to communicate with different stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask workstreams, managing deadlines and allocating suitable resources.
  • Experience of working within a Project Team, utilising process mapping skills and relevant time management/project reporting skills.
