Work for Starbucks

Introduction to Starbucks

Expect More Than Coffee

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We’re not just passionate purveyors of coffee, but everything else that goes with a full and rewarding coffeehouse experience.

We’re a neighbourhood gathering place, a part of the daily routine – and we couldn’t be happier about it. Get to know us and you’ll see: we are so much more than what we brew. We make sure everything we do is through the lens of humanity – from our commitment to the highest quality coffee in the world, to the way we engage with our customers and communities to do business responsibly.

Every day, we go to work hoping to achieve two things: Share great coffee with our friends and help make communities a little better!

This happens millions of times a week – that unique connection that happens between the Starbucks barista and the customer – the cup that’s passed over the counter, the smile, the interaction…it’s a connection. We make sure everything we do honours that connection – from our commitment to the highest quality coffee in the world, to the way we engage with our customers and communities.

Connect with something bigger

By bringing people together over coffee, Starbucks has become one of the world’s best-known and most loved companies. Working at Starbucks is a lot like working with your friends! When you work here, you’re not an “employee” – we call ourselves “partners” because we believe in shared common goals and mutual success. Our partners are our most valuable resource. Our story began in 1971. Back then we were a roaster and retailer of whole bean and ground coffee, tea and spices with a single store in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Today, we are privileged to connect with millions of customers every day with exceptional products and more than 28,000 retail stores in 76 countries.

Real-life stories

Ania - Store Manager

Hi, I’m Ania and being a Starbucks partner is so much more than just being an employee. It’s a place where meaningful connections are made, incredible journeys are embarked upon, and where personal growth and development flourish.

I joined started as a Supervisor two and a half years ago, and through Starbucks, I completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship, quickly became a Coffee Master, participated in Barista championships, and with my passion for training, I also became a Barista trainer.

Every day I dreamed of having my own store and after my Apprenticeship I felt like I was ready. I applied for a Store Manager position in London, in a store that I immediately fell in love with. Despite not being a morning person, I can honestly say that I love my job and feel fulfilled in my role at Starbucks.

Davide - Shift Supervisor

Hi there! I’m Davide and from the beautiful island of Sicily. Though I work in London. When I arrived In London I had a number of jobs but none of them felt right. I needed a place where I could discover my potential, learn, and be an individual. I needed Starbucks!

I’ve been here 2 and a half years. Started as a Barista, worked my way up to Shift Supervisor – but my ambition doesn’t stop there. I applied to go on the Apprenticeship programme, working towards Level 3 Diploma in Management and Leadership. I received my certificate and got the chance to meet and hear from other Partners and their terrific ambitions being fulfilled.

I’m now in the Store Manager Training Program and have 3 months of leadership experience under my belt – soon to finish training, hopefully get my own Store and then who knows!
