As an Events Assistant, you'll liaise with attendees, coordinate logistics, and provide on-site support for events. You'll document events and collaborate with various organizations.

Partnering with local organisations, we put on programmes of training, workshops and other events that promote unity and tolerance.

We conduct research to support our cause to challenge preconceptions around race and stereotyping. As well as delivering workshops on unconscious bias in the workplace.

Join us in leading positive change!As an Events Assistant, you will act as a liaison between Quilombo UK and attendees and play a key role in ensuring the success of events by coordinating logistics and providing on-site support. This position also involves documentation of events, and collaboration with various organisations. Embrace the chance to make a meaningful impact, develop valuable skills, and build connections within diverse communities.The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours of commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. What are we looking for?

Main Tasks:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of events that align with Quilombo UK's mission and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Events Team to ensure smooth operations before, during, and after events.
  • Act as a liaison between Quilombo UK and the community, ensuring effective communication and understanding.
  • Engage with event attendees, addressing inquiries and providing information about Quilombo UK's initiatives.
  • Contribute to promotional efforts to maximise event attendance and community participation.
  • Assist in outreach activities to connect with diverse communities and encourage involvement.
  • Provide on-site support during events, managing logistics, and assisting with set-up and breakdown activities.
  • Collaborate with vendors, performers, and volunteers to ensure a seamless event experience.
  • Assist in documenting events through photography, videography, or other mediums as required.
  • Contribute to post-event reports and evaluations.

Required Skills:

  • Enthusiastic about promoting arts, sports, and cultures for intercultural understanding.
  • Passionate about fostering cultural awareness, race diversity education, and community well-being.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse communities.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing event logistics.
  • Flexibility to work during weekends or evenings as needed.
  • Previous experience in assisting with event planning and coordination.

Desirable skills:

  • Customer service skills
  • Basic skills in photography, videography, or other documentation methods
