5 Desirable Items For Your House And Garden

June 30, 2018

This article was written for Annabel & Grace, which is now part of Rest Less.

My friend Sally and I had a brilliant day out last week visiting the House & Garden Festival at Olympia in London. Sally is super savvy when it comes to home improvement ideas. In fact, the building work we are about to embark on at our new cottage is largely based on her problem-resolving solutions. We were both on the look out for interior design inspiration and so arrived at Olympia dead on the dot of opening time, eager to explore the stands inside. Sadly, it seemed to us that there were very few ‘home’ or ‘garden’ stands, although to be fair, there were talks, workshops and one-to-one advice clinics you could attend that covered these two areas. By far the largest areas were devoted to Art & Antiques and Spirit of Summer. As I know that our readers are busy women, I’ve done a massive edit and would like to tell you about just 5 Desirable Items For Your House And Garden that we discovered as we strolled around the vast hall…

One piece of furniture really caught my eye. It was a contemporary deckchair from LImes & Vines. Based in Hertfordshire, Limes & Vines began life in 2014 and specialises in alfresco furniture and accessories. The EcoFurn chair has two seating positions and is available in eleven versions (colour and wood) and is priced at £135. The headrest is £15 extra. 10% DISCOUNT when you quote SUMMER2018 at checkout.

I spotted these two faux posies on the Funky Bunch stand and they struck me as very good value because they really are beautifully made silk flowers. Just a couple of examples from the extensive range of faux flowers, foliage and plants available.

Next up, something fragrant. T London’s products are free from parabens, SLS/SLES, artificial colours and contain only the highest quality botanical ingredients and the finest essential oils. As the name implies, the scents are based on tea. Dimbula which is blended for equilibrium; Yerba Mate for focus and clarity; Tukuyu for comfort and Darjeeling for positivity. They all smell wonderful btw. The website gives you wonderful descriptions of each fragrance to help you make your selection. Plus you receive a free travel size product with every purchase.

Bee potion products are ethical and organic – and every single one is handmade by the enterprising owner Katharine Slater. In fact she is the beekeeper as well. When I chatted with her it was clear how passionate she is about her products. Each one addresses a specific area in need of love, for example: cracked heels – Bee Healed, dried out skin Bee Pure, Bee Soothed – for problem skin, Bee Cleansed – a wonderful anti-aging face mask.

My fifth choice has to be Bay Design’s ribbon lampshades. They literally stopped both Sally and I in our tracks. Michèle Bayford’s products are handmade from luxurious French ribbons and they ooze style and sophistication… has to be something to do with her French heritage. Her meticulous attention to detail is very evident.
