Bathroom show and tell

May 6, 2017

This article was written for Annabel & Grace, which is now part of Rest Less.

This is the second in our Show and Tell series. We have moved from kitchen to bathroom for this one. Annabel and I had a conflab about our favourite bathroom products – you know, the ones that we buy time and time again because they are soooooo useful.

We’d love to hear about your fave bathroom products, so please do get in touch and tell us what they are so we can share your recommendations with all the other lovely CountryWives. Here are our personal magnificent seven. Click on any pic for more details on that particular product.

I have tried lots of different products to keep the hard skin on my heels at bay but none, and I mean none (especially those pathetic electric rollers), work better than this Bio Sana Pedi-File Foot Dresser which was recommended to me by the most wonderful podiatrist I have ever met.  This foot file lasts for literally months. All you need to do is give it a quick scrub with a washing up brush after you have used it and leave it to dry. It has an antibacterial and waterproof coating and rough and fine sides. But most of all it is effective – I have seriously soft heels and it is all down to this particular foot file. Husband uses it too (and believe me, he needs something that works!). The size is perfect, not too small and not too large. You can use it in the shower ie wet, or dry. Don’t be tempted to buy one that looks similar, this is the real deal.

You’ll probably think I’m a bit dotty lauding this “alcoholic” Pastis Scented Marseille Soap with Organic Argan Oil. Why do I keep using it? Because it is long lasting, made from top quality ingredients, doesn’t go soggy on the washbasin, and fragrances the bathroom with it’s wonderfully fresh perfume. French Soaps, the company that sells this cleansing bar, also offers it in approx 50 (yes, fifty!) other fragrances.

Shower scrunchie. Am sure lots of you already use one of these in the bath or shower but just in case you don’t, thought I would extol the virtues of this simple device. Dirt cheap (LOL) they are stocked in all the supermarkets. Pour some bath or shower gel onto it, scrunch up under some warm water and hey presto, you have oodles of cleansing lather and get a gentle exfoliation at the same time.

Pommade Divine Annabel loves putting this remedy balm on her feet and between her toes, putting on socks and, after a good night’s sleep, waking up with tootsies that are as soft as a baby’s bottom. Based on a 200 year old British recipe, Pommade Divine’s formula includes a cocktail of natural ingredients renowned for their antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Suitable for all skin types – including sensitive – the replenishing balm helps enhance skin’s resilience, diminish likelihood of scarring and can also calm conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Epsom salt bath soak is a good post workout bath time treat as it’s great for easing sore muscles. Numerous studies have demonstrated the profound and wide-ranging benefits of magnesium and sulphate, the two major components of Epsom salt. Can also be used for treating bee stings, mild sunburn, fading bruises, exfoliation and as a facial.

Amazon Oil – for gorgeous glowing skin post shower. Enriched with Buriti, an Amazonian oil containing vegan carotenoid pro-Vitamin A, this organic oil promotes a luminous tone for all skin types.
