Did you see Erin, the confident 15-year-old from Glasgow, on the BBC’s Tory Leadership debate this week? She put the five middle-aged men vying to become the next PM firmly in their place when she asked “Will you commit to net-zero carbon emissions by 2025?” Well her question was yet another reminder that we must all do our bit to help the environment. Even small steps are better than nothing. So here’s a way we can reduce our use of plastic:
So Annabel was browsing around The Burford Garden Company recently, she came across Bee’s Wrap which is a natural alternative to plastic wrap. It is made from beeswax, organic cloth, tree resin and organic jojoba oil. It has an unusual feel but when you wrap it around the food that you want to protect, it seals with the warmth of your hands. It is hand washable in cool water with dish soap and therefore reusable. Each pack comes with three sizes, small 7″ x 8″, medium 10″ x 11″ and large 13″ x 14″.
- Handmade using organic cotton, sustainably harvested bees wax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin
- Reduces your carbon footprint – Bee’s Wrap is fully biodegradable and compostable
- Reusable – natural antibacterial properties will help keep food fresh and allow repeated usage. Used several times each week, Bee’s Wrap should last for approximately one year
The Bread Wrap – which is 17″ x 23″ – keeps a loaf of wholemeal bread fresh for days.
It is not recommended for meat and cannot be heated in any way i.e. no hot water, dishwasher or microwave ovens.
A fun fact for you – bees are the only insect that produce food eaten by man!
