I bought this book as a Kindle Daily Deal for 99p and read it whilst on holiday recently. It was an easy but well written read with all those human emotions that were so raw in WWII however this time the focus, unusually, is focused on Liverpool and I really appreciated the grit and sheer determination of the people of this city when they came under the intense bombing by Hitler’s Luftwaffe in an attempt to obliterate the biggest port in the north.
It is a heartwarming and uplifting story even if it is tinged with the inevitable sadness resulting from war.

I am looking forward to Ruth Hamilton’s next book, A Liverpool Song, coming out in July.
