How to dress an apple shape

I was very excited to meet up with Helen Venables last week for a personal consultation on how to dress an apple shape. Helen is the MD of House of Colour and has 20 years invaluable experience in helping women to look their best. As she says “Fashion is important, but true style is personal to you. Let’s face it, you know when you look amazing. Your face lights up, your eyes sparkle and everyone pays you compliments. Actually, that’s the real you.”

Interestingly, both Helen and I are pretty typical apples – we both have large busts, undefined waists, narrow hips and slim legs. Other features of this body shape can be:
Rib cage and and back appear somewhat wide
May have wide or/and fleshy shoulders
Slim arms
Flat bottom

In this video, Helen shows us how we can make the most of our apple shape with some great tips and tricks:

One extra tip: create balance on your lower body by wearing the right shoes – platforms, wedges, calf length boots, ballet flats and strappy sandals will all look great. Best to steer clear of kitten heels and bulky looking boots such as Uggs which will make your legs look thinner and draw attention back to your waist.

Whatever body shape you happen to be, House of Colour can help you find your style (and boost your confidence!). Their small, friendly, relaxed personal styling classes take place all over the world and are run by highly qualified stylists. What can you expect to learn if you attend one?
