Our recent What Do You Think The Best Fashion Brands for Women Over Forty Are? got an overwhelmingly positive response. Lots of you told us which were your personal favourites – thanks ladies. So we thought we’d feature some of the brands you mentioned with a sample or two of what they currently have on offer for us wonderful women over 40, 50, 60, 70…
Fiona: 5’2″ recommends some of the dresses and tops from WHITESTUFF. I like the way they display their clothes with items that may go well together. I am in my 60s and often find other ladies of my age browsing successfully.
Jennifer: 5′ tall, 67 and size 10 also approves of Whitestuff, particularly their skirts, tunics, knitwear and tops in natural fibres and lovely colours.
Sara: I always find something I can wear over and over again at HUSH which makes it great value in my eyes.
Pru: My favourites include UNIQLO and COS, M&S has lovely cashmere at the moment. I try to stay loyal as I like the link to charity donations via the Sparks card.
Gill: Take a look at REALLY WILD. Quality British clothing suitable for young to old. It’s classically timeless styling suitable for town and country. They are online and have stores in Marlow and Sloane Square.
Elaine: I am 63 years old but enjoy wearing unusual and stand out designs. I have shopped from nearly all of the brands you have mentioned but also look out for interesting and quirky clothing that suits my tall frame and boyish haircut. I love ARKET which is the more upmarket branch of H&M. Their clothes use wonderful colours and are beautifully made.
Clare: I’m 65, size 6-8 bottom and size 10 top. Arket jeans and simple t’s are a great fit, though unfortunately most of their knitwear is too “boxy” for me.
Christina: When I buy clothes, I look for quality and timeless design – which means I buy like a French woman ie preferring a capsule wardrobe over a jam packed one! CELTIC & CO is one of my go to websites and I’ve been suitably impressed by my purchases from them.
Joanna: I’m a fan of THE WHITE COMPANY. Although they have a limited colour palette, everything they sell oozes quality and style. And I always buy my bedlinen when their sale is on!
Carina & Julia (mother and daughter): And check out their super cool biker boots – we’ve both bought a pair! On trend and less clumpy than other versions we’ve seen. The solid rubber heel makes them especially comfortable (and practical).
Marianne: I think BAUKJEN is always worth a look, in particular for dresses. Their current range is elegant, well cut and well priced at just over the £100 mark.
Janet: I’ve just discovered SCOTCH & SODA. It’s an Amsterdam fashion brand and great if you like vibrant colours and patterns. They also do classic neutrals too.
