Dry Eyes? If You Suffer From Them, This Product May Help

I have never had a problem with hay fever so, this year, when I started streaming from every orifice I thought I had just caught a nasty summer cold.  However, my eyes were so uncomfortable I finally went to see my pharmacist who told me I was suffering from hay fever, but should get my eyes checked out by my optometrist in case I had dry eyes.

On doing so, he confirmed I had dry eyes, something apparently which happens with age… yup, just another thing!

Dry eye syndrome is a condition where the eyes do not make enough tears, or the tears evaporate too quickly. This can lead to the eyes drying out and becoming inflamed, itchy, gritty, red, blurry or sensitive to light. It is a common condition and, as I mentioned above, becomes more common with age, especially in women over 50. Up to a third of people age 65 or older may have dry eye syndrome.

  • Wear contact lenses? Take them out and wear glasses to rest your eyes whenever possible
  • Look at computer screens for a long time? Take breaks to rest your eyes and ensure the screen is at eye level so you don’t strain your eyes
  • Spend time in air-conditioned or heated environments? Use a humidifier to stop the air getting dry

My optometrist prescribed some magical eyedrops called Hycosan which completely resolved my uncomfortable, itchy eyes within 24 hours.  I just use one drop morning and evening and I have comfy, sparkling, albeit wrinkly, eyes again!

I have the Hycosan Original, but there are several different ones on the market and I love the fact they are preservative free and unlike any other eye drop I have used, they are sterile for six months after opening.

Not cheap, but a fantastic little product. £9.99 SHOP NOW
